Three-phase transformers are nowadays mainly designed as three-leg cores with arrangement in one plane. We distinguish:

3-Phase Transformers of the 3UI core type series

Transformers of the type series 3UI are manufactured with power ratings from approx. 10VA to 25kVA. Construction methods of these transformers are:

  • vertical construction with foot angle
  • horizontal construction with brackets or spacers

3 Phase Power Transformers type series DTN

Transformers of type series DTN with power ratings from 30 to 180kVA. For adequate cooling, these transformers should generally be set up with the winding axis vertical.

3-Phase Print Transformers for printed circuit boards

Transformers of type series 3UI30, 3UI39 and 3UI48 are manufactured as so-called potted 3-phase flat transformers with power ratings from approx. 15 to 45VA.

Choose Your Ambient Temperature

In the following you will find type overviews, which give an orientation about the mechanical dimensions of the required transformer for your electrical power requirement. For this correlation between mechanics and electrics, the ambient temperature of the transformers is an essential boundary condition. Choose from the common ambient temperatures ta40, ta50, and ta70 to find the one that suits you best.

We will be pleased to calculate YOUR individual transformer for the appropriate environment.

Possible mechanical designs for 3-phase transformers at ta = 40°C:

The type ratings given are for initial orientation. The output power achievable with a specific core type must be determined individually for each product. It depends on a number of boundary conditions such as ambient temperature, maximum permitted component temperature, core material, operating mode, cooling situation, number of output windings, insulation requirements (type of transformer), etc.
